Hangry No More: 4 Delicious, Healthy Snacks For the Workplace

13 May

Ever gotten to that 3:00 pm point in your work day (or 9:30 am … or 11:00 am … or 2:00 pm … we’re not picky here at GKG with our noshiness) and felt like this?

hangry collage… [Raises hand].

But how to stave off the “hanger” … ? Here’s the best way I know:

Care for a Cuppa? Sharing My Favorite Teas

23 Apr

teaforte

How adorable is that mug? The wonderful Laura — my friend who visited DC a few weeks ago and ate / drank her way through the Drink the District Festival with THT and me — sent this combination from Tea Forte for my birthday, and I couldn’t be happier. That beautiful, cherry blossom-esque mug-and-metal-steeper set (it’s ceramic!) and fragrant English Breakfast tea blend now have a permanent place in my kitchen. Hurrah!

This lovely surprise — unsurprisingly — got me thinking about tea.

Nothing Says “I Love You” like Animal Protein and Cheesecake

24 Feb

Yup. You read that right.

1. Thanksgiving. Rules? Shmules.
2. Christmas. See Thanksgiving. Especially when hors d’oeuvres and pie are involved.
3. My birthday — if you can’t indulge on your Day of Birth, when can you, eh?
4. Valentine’s Day.

Time for another food-venture in shopping! This weekend, to prepare for a Mardi Gras-fest with some DC friends (details and Jambalaya recipe pending!), I ventured to the foreign land of Friendship Heights — which really does sound like a foreign land — to hit up two favorites. Welp, There Goes the Casserole: Learning to Live with, and Love, Kitchen “Mistakes”

Resolution fail this week! Conferences, an overnight retreat, and grading have left me swamped. However, if at first you don’t succeed, beat that dead horse-of-a-goal until it’s … um, well-beaten? Back with a vengeance this week, my friends. I’ll be letting some cool cats out of some bags in the next few days!

In between the paper towels and styrofoam in that trash can, you might be able to spy the remnants of a meal. (If you can, kudos to you!). Here’s what happened:
